Yes, Manora manufactures high quality custom upholstered furniture in Quebec, at our Laval and Victoriaville manufacturing sites.
Manora is the result of a merger between Alphavic and Dimora, with the goal of strengthening our position in the high-end, made-in-Quebec furniture market.
We are united by common values of respect, teamwork, and integrity, not to mention the family spirit that forged the reputation of the two founding companies (i.e., the Alphavic family business created in 1977, and Dimora Sofa, launched in 1996 by the Primiani family, a second-generation sofa manufacturers).
Manora's head office is located in Victoriaville, and we can count on a select network of Manora retailers throughout Quebec.
All of our upholstered furniture is framed with the best hardwood available on the market. The wood is glued, screwed, and stapled. The frames are entirely manufactured in our Victoriaville, Centre-du-Québec plant for excellent quality control.
The legs and other wood decorations on our custom-made Quebec furniture are made of KD hardwood kiln-dried to less than 10% moisture content.
We use 8mm No-Sag springs for the seats and 11mm No-Sag springs for the backs. Steel union rods are added to stabilize the seat and back springs.
After receiving their springs, our furniture is covered with polyurethane foam with a density of 2 pounds (compression of approximately 30 pounds). We also use polyester fibers to embellish the shapes and optimize the comfort of the upholstered furniture.
To protect your carpets and floors, plastic underpads are included. It is important to never remove them to preserve this protection. We strongly suggest that you add felt underlay for maximum protection and comfort.
We offer you the option of single, double, or French seams.
Thanks to our two factories and our equipment investments, we can manufacture your living room or bedroom furniture in one of the fastest turnaround times in the industry: in 6 to 8 weeks.
Refer to the cleaning code (label) on your Manora furniture to learn how to clean a stain on your fabric furniture.
Note that there is no guarantee that cleaning fabric furniture will be completely successful. Always test on a small area before proceeding to a complete cleaning.
For the Water-Based Cleaner code, only use foam from a water-based cleaner, such as a mild detergent, or solvent-free upholstery shampoo. Apply the cleaning foam with a soft brush in a circular motion. When the fabric is dry, vacuum it up.
For the Solvent code, use a mild anhydrous solvent or dry-cleaning product. Be sure to clean your furniture in a well-ventilated area and avoid products containing tetrachloromethane or other toxic agents.
For the water-based cleaner/solvent code, use a mild solvent, upholstery shampoo, or foam from a mild detergent. When using a solvent or dry-cleaning product, follow the manufacturer's instructions exactly and clean your furniture only in a well-ventilated area. Avoid products containing tetrachloromethane or other toxic agents. Whatever product you use, always test it on a small area before proceeding with the full cleaning.
For the Vacuum only code, clean the fabric by only vacuuming or lightly brushing the fabric to prevent dust and dirt build-up. Water-based foam cleaners or solvent-based cleaners of any kind can cause excessive shrinkage, staining, or surface pile distortion, so don’t use them.
In all cases, select a professional cleaning service when a deep cleaning is needed.
To prevent soiling from dust and dirt, we suggest frequent vacuuming and/or light brushing.
To keep your upholstered furniture in good condition for a long time:
To clean minor dirt and liquid spills on leather furniture, immediately absorb the liquid with a clean cloth or sponge. Use only clear, lukewarm water, then let it air dry. If you use water, clean the stain and everything around it. It is not recommended to use a dryer to dry wet leather.
To treat stubborn stains on leather furniture, it is recommended to use a mild soap without detergent, such as a bar of Ivory soap. Spread the soap on a damp sponge and clean the entire area where the stain is located. Then be sure to rinse the same area thoroughly with a damp cloth and clear warm water; Then let it air dry.
For grease, butter, oil, or margarine stains on leather furniture, blot the excess grease with a clean dry cloth. Leave as is, as it should disappear into the leather in a short time. Do not attempt to use water or clean a grease stain; refer to a leather specialist.
In all cases, do NOT use:
Leather furniture requires little maintenance for normal use:
Be careful to avoid scratching the leather (from animals, for example). Avoid exposing the leather to direct sunlight or heat.
Good to know: body, hand and hair oil create acidity, since they contain PH3 (equivalent to vinegar), and can therefore oxidize the leather. Get Secret du Métier leather care cream.
Periodic cleaning of upholstered furniture is strongly recommended to avoid the accumulation of dirt and contaminants that can lead to permanent stains.
Cleaning frequency depends on the environmental conditions to which the material is subjected.
It is important to know that the risk of dye transfer from clothing (especially jeans) is greater on white polyurethanes. This transfer is due to the wide range of dyes used in clothing from different countries. This is not a polyurethane defect.
To clean white polyurethane furniture, use a sponge soaked in a little clay stone and a few drops of white vinegar. Scrub in circular motions.
